One of a salons most important external features is its sign. It is the quality and design of the sign that attracts passers by and gives them subliminal messages about what kind of service and attitude they can expect from that salon.

In essence, poor sign, poor salon, sad but true. We are taught to not judge a book by its cover but invariably everyone does, and there's nothing anyone can do to change that. When the sign above the salon is in a state of disrepair, then perhaps the service offered by that salon is of a similar nature.
